What is a 'low-pressure' faucet?

Especially in the kitchen you have to consider if the faucet is connected directly to the water pipes (central hot water supply, continuous-flow water heater) or to a boiler or a hot water tank. In the second case, a so-called low-pressure faucet is required, that has 3 instead of 2 connection hoses.

Instantaneous water heaters are frequently confused with hot water tanks (both are usually mounted below your sink and look similar). If you aren't sure, what kind of "box" you have, please aks your dealer or landlord before placing an order: Trying to use a boiler or hot water tank with a standard valve will make the tank burst because it is not designed to withstand a normal line pressure of 50 to 90 psi!

Good to know:

• The underlying valve technology is somewhat complicated, which is the reason for the higher price of low-pressure faucets.
• It is not a malfunction if a low pressure faucet drips a little while the water in the tank is boiling, or at least very hot - it acts as a safety relief valve.
• The water flow through a low pressure faucet must only only be limited by it's internal valves, therefore neither a tap aerator nor a water stop button may be installed
